Patio Cleaner: How to Clean your Patio
Why You Should Clean Your Patio
A clean patio enhances the overall appearance of your outdoor space. It creates an inviting atmosphere for relaxation and entertaining guests. Regular cleaning also helps to maintain the patio's structural integrity.
Dirt, grime, and organic matter can accumulate on patio surfaces over time. This build-up can lead to staining and discolouration if left unattended. Cleaning removes these unsightly marks, restoring the patio's original beauty.
Moss, algae, and weeds often grow in the cracks and crevices of patios. These can make the surface slippery and dangerous. Proper cleaning eliminates these hazards, improving safety for family and visitors.
Pests and insects are attracted to dirty outdoor spaces. A clean patio discourages these unwanted guests from making your outdoor area their home. This creates a more pleasant environment for outdoor activities.
Regular cleaning extends the lifespan of your patio materials. It prevents the build-up of harmful substances that can cause deterioration over time. This maintenance can save money on costly repairs or replacements in the future.
A well-maintained patio can increase property value. It enhances kerb appeal and creates a positive first impression for potential buyers. This can be particularly beneficial if you plan to sell your home in the future.
Choosing A Patio Cleaner
Selecting the right patio cleaner is crucial for maintaining your outdoor space. The proper product will effectively remove dirt, stains, and grime while preserving your patio's surface.
Patio Cleaner Benefits
Patio cleaners offer several advantages for homeowners. They efficiently remove stubborn stains, algae, and moss that can make outdoor surfaces slippery and unsightly. Many formulas contain sodium hypochlorite which is heavily alkaline and strips a small layer of the stone from your patio. We would advise heavily against using these products as they damage the patio and encourage water ingress which will cause cracking at colder temperatures.
Moss-Go patio cleaner has been specially formulated to provide quick results whilst being easy to apply.
The formula is trade strength and it will provide professional results in a short time.

Cover nearby plants and grass with plastic sheeting to protect them from cleaning solutions. Pay special attention to delicate foliage that might be sensitive to chemicals.

Keeping Your Patio Clean
Regular maintenance is key to keeping your patio clean and inviting. A simple routine can prevent dirt and grime from accumulating, saving time and effort in the long run.
Start by sweeping your patio weekly with a stiff-bristled broom. This removes loose debris like leaves and dirt before they can settle into the surface.
For more thorough cleaning, use a garden hose with a spray nozzle. Never use a pressure washer on a patio as this will damage the surface at a molecular level leaving the stone open to water ingress.
Consider sealing your patio to protect it from stains and weather damage. Re-apply sealant every 1-3 years, depending on wear and tear.
Remove weeds promptly to prevent them from taking root between paving stones. A mixture of vinegar and water can be an effective natural weed killer.
Lastly, address spills immediately to prevent staining. Keep a cloth or paper towels handy for quick clean-ups during outdoor gatherings.
